Candidates with distinguished accomplishments in their field and an exceptional national and international reputation will be eligible to be considered for significant support from the Endowment through appointment as a Shelby Distinguished Endowed Professor (https://provost.ua.edu/the-shelby-endowment-for-distinguished-faculty/). This gifted Shelby Distinguished Professor is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a faculty member at the University of Alabama. Candidates with research interests in all areas related to mechanical engineering and mechanics are encouraged to apply. Candidates who have a special research focus and interests in the areas of: (1) biomechanics and biosystems engineering, (2) robotics and mechatronics, (3) sustainable energy, clean energy, and combustion, (4) advanced manufacturing including integrated and interconnected systems, (5) multi-scale computation and simulation, and (6) micro/nanoscale systems and engineering Are of particular interest to one or more of these positions and are therefore strongly encouraged to apply.

• You have 10+ years of experience as a tenure-track/tenure-track faculty member at a leading peer R1 institution.
• To have a proven record of high-quality scientific research and publications that are recognized nationally and/or internationally.
• Significant scholarship record in the Department of Engineering with undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
