An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at the University of Southampton’s outstanding Southampton Sports team as a Sports Operations Assistant.

We have numerous sites including the newly expanded Flag Ship site, Jubilee Sports and Leisure Centre; Featuring a state-of-the-art gym, climbing wall, swimming pool, squash and studio. As part of the wider offer, we have Mayflower Gym, Wide Lane Sports Ground and The WaterSports Centre, which are open to students, staff and members of the wider community.

The University of Southampton invests over £40 million in our sports facilities, and we offer a wide range of sports classes, leisure classes and training courses available to our customers from 7:00 to 22:00 every weekday. We require our sports professionals to provide a consistently high quality sports and entertainment service to our clients all year round.

The role

As an Operations Assistant, you will be part of a highly motivated and organized Southampton Sport team responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the facilities. Our headquarters are in our spacious sports ground. This role is primarily responsible for the smooth running of the facility, but will also deal with customer inquiries, setting up equipment, ensuring health and safety procedures are followed, and being an ambassador for active lifestyles at the University of Southampton.

We encourage applications for full-time or part-time roles. Working patterns will work around the clock, with full time equivalent to 36 hours per week over a number of weeks.

About you

We are looking for professional, enthusiastic and proactive individuals who are great team players. The roles require strong customer service skills, as you may be the first point of contact handling a variety of situations. You will be responsible for the health and safety of all users and need to always act professionally.

What we can offer you

With a competitive starting salary of £24,600 per annum, there is an additional 10% allowance.
