NI priority habitats have undergone a large -scale loss with huge negative effects on species. To focus on these declines and create more flexibility in the face of climate change, we want to bring together the main stakeholders to create a change in the landscape in three high -value landscapes. We have a really exciting opportunity for a consultant to maintain nature restoration networks. Your role will be to work in Lough Erne, Antrim Plateau and Lough Negh to build relationships and search for opportunities and map of opportunities to create better, larger and more related habitats for NI priority species, including raising phases such as Curlew, Hen Harrier and Merlin.

You will sit inside the Nature Nature team, and is managed by the head of the types of RSPB NI and will work closely with the consulting teams of reserves and reserves on the ground, as well as those with other interest in the three landscapes. You will be at home in NI, one year spends each of the three landscapes over the three years.

This role is funded by PeacePlus. Peaceplus is a border financing program run by the European Union Special Union Programs Authority (Seupb) and with the support of the European Union, the UK government of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Ireland government, and the Northern Ireland administration.

What is the role?

The first stage for each landscape will be based on the office. You will collect the largest possible data on the extent and state of priority habitats, then overcome this with the current and historical records of priority types related to each scene with a focus on raising materials (Curlew, Lapwing, Redshank, Snipe), Hen Harrier and Merlin.

You will implement a maps fee for stakeholders for landscapes to understand who are the main landowners – this will include legal bodies such as Ni Service and Ni Water, farmers, manuscripts, etc., you will meet with stakeholders to build awareness and support the need to restore landscape and search for opportunities to maintain habitats and restore potential priority types. This will include the implementation of field visits to drawing office maps of the Earth’s reality and to show the partners that seem to restore good landscape scale. All of this will require a close work with the RSPB teams and the Peaceplus teams that cover reserves, consultations, data management, conservation, social sciences, community participation and communications.

You will be responsible for managing relevant data systems and reports, and you will participate in any necessary training. It will contribute to the project contacts: submit conversations, blog writing, newsletters, social media content, and work with the RSPB NI Comments team to increase vision. At the end of each year, you will produce a report for each of the landscapes that define the main stakeholders; Short, medium and long -term opportunities to create better, larger, more and more connected habitats for priority types; And potential financing sources.

Basic qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience:

• Rehabilitation level level in the subject or ability to show equivalent work experience.
• Excellent knowledge of the environment, species and habitats in the three landscapes and land pressures that affect these.
• Adequate knowledge of a set of delivery mechanisms for conservative work related to the three landscapes, for example, agricultural environmental plans.
• Understanding the practices of land management that we seek to influence -most of them from agriculture, but also forests and water.
• Understand the concept of conservation of landscapes.
• The ability to influence others and negotiate the desired results has been proven.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and progressive) – including the ability to speak with confidence and ingenuity in public places to a variety of fans.
• I am confident of calling for the location of land owners, local directors, politicians, etc. who have different views.
• A specialist for the basic Office programs.
• Experience work on surveying,/or protection and/or managing important sites, species or habitats.
• Experience production partnership work.

Desired skills, knowledge and experience:

• Effective project management skills.
• Specialized knowledge for preservation in relevant areas, such as agricultural lands and wetlands.
• Efficiency in the use of geographic information systems.

This is a fixed role for 3 years for 37.5 hours a week.
