The labor market in Switzerland remains resilient despite the slowdown in the economy and the impact of US tariffs.

The unemployment rate remained at 2.8% in September, the same as in August, according to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs.

But the number of unemployed people rose to just over 133,000 — nearly 18% more than a year ago.

Younger and older worker unemployment has increased, although their respective rates are flat at 3.2% and 2.5%.

Seasonally adjusted figures show the unemployment rate at 3%. SECO says more than 3,400 people exhausted unemployment benefits in July, a sharp rise of about 40% from the previous month.
