Essential job duties

Director of the University Program at the Academy of Genetics and Genomics (GGA) plays a pivotal role in leading strategic initiatives, program development, and administrative oversight in a university-wide effort focused on genetics, genomics, research, and outreach. The Program Director reports directly to the Executive Director, and collaborates closely with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to advance GGA a task. This position will have full oversight of the program while continuing to report to the Director who will provide long-term strategic objectives. The functionality of the program will fall directly under the scope of the program manager.

Program Director L GGA You will report to the CEO and be responsible for implementation GGA A mission through a group of projects that achieve its goals. The Program Director will be an integral part of GGA The Executive Committee will have primary responsibility for programmatic development and office management GGA And through its multidisciplinary collaborative projects. This will include providing administrative support to the Executive Director GGA Committees as well as organizing management GGA Undergraduate and postgraduate programs including courses, seminars, retreats, workshops and seminars. This individual will oversee the recruitment of graduate students and the administration of graduate fellowships. The Program Director will be responsible for office administration tasks such as email administration and response, scheduling, course management, electronic and physical file management, purchasing, travel, logistics, but not limited to, data analytics, project reporting, budget management, and human resource management for the Academy. The person in this position will work in coordination with other staff across the university, such as the Office of the Provost, the Graduate School, the Office of Research and Innovation, the Office of Information Technology, University Development, and various college, department, and program offices. For example, this person will work across the university to help develop, coordinate, and implement interdisciplinary research and educational efforts (such as programs focused on antimicrobial resistance solutions).

Specific responsibilities:

(50%) Program management

  • Full supervision of program functions
  • Serves as a key thought partner to the CEO, contributing to long-range strategic planning and independently translating strategic objectives into actionable plans.
  • Event planning and organization
    • Head of all logistical and operational components GGA Events, including high-profile seminars, retreats, and national symposiums, with minimal supervision.

  • Recruitment of graduate students
    • Organizing applications for geneticists and genomics admissions committee
    • Organize an online interview schedule for geneticists and genomics candidates
    • Organize in-person recruiting events for geneticists and genomic scientists.
    • Major graduate student recruitment efforts, including application review, candidate selection, and organizing on-campus events, with final decisions submitted for approval by the Executive Director.
  • Management of Graduate and Postgraduate Studies
    • Supervising and managing new paperwork
    • Organizing and processing payments to coaches
  • Graduate Student Fellowships and Special Awards/Grant Awards
    • Organizing payments to grantees
  • Undergraduate Research Awards
    • Organizing payments to grantees
  • Provide year-end reports for GGA Programs and projects
    • Independently, develop comprehensive annual reports and impact analyzes for review by the Executive Committee, leveraging data to guide continuous improvement and strategic refinement.
  • Develop and submit annual reports for review by GGA Executive Director and Executive Committee
  • Supervise and collaborate with communications specialist in development and delivery GGA Communications. Develop creative strategies to convey sensitive and complex research information and serve as a key resource for knowledge of program services and design materials/content related to the promotion GGA.
  • Direct and oversee strategic communications, mentor the communications specialist and develop high-impact content for internal and external audiences.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to effectively translate complex research concepts to diverse stakeholders including students, faculty, donors, and industry partners.

(30%) Project management

  • Develop and manage multiple projects including project reports.
    • Independently manage the full life cycle of complex multidisciplinary projects – from conception and funding strategy through implementation and post-project reporting.
    • Drive new initiatives by identifying institutional gaps and leading the design, proposal and implementation of innovative research and training programmes.
  • Grant proposal development and management
    • Independently identify, research and submit to relevant funding opportunities GGA Executive Director and Research Office
    • Proactively source, write and manage complex proposals and donor funding opportunities with minimal oversight, ensuring compliance with GGA Objectives.
    • Subsequently manage major grants, including reporting and compliance, acting as institutional lead on behalf of GGA For funding agencies and partners.
    • Write and review grant proposals that focus on research, graduate student training, undergraduate education, and outreach
    • Serve an administrative role to manage new grants (as applicable)
  • Development and management efforts
    • Independently identify and research relevant funding opportunities from foundations and donors and present them to GGA Executive Director and Research Office
    • Focused on and reviews interdisciplinary projects and proposals on research, graduate student training, undergraduate education and outreach
    • Serving an administrative role to manage new projects (as required)
  • Collaborative work with other units in OUIP To coordinate synergistic activities

(10%) Budget maintenance and forecasting

  • Track annual budgets and delivery strategies GGA CEO.
  • Create budget projects and submit them to GGA CEO.
  • In collaboration with the Provost’s Office finance team, manage budgets and financial forecasts, develop funding models and make recommendations directly to the Executive Director.
