The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at William Lee Engineering at Unc Charlotte is recruiting head of a new department for the start of January 2026. UNC Charlotte has officially joined the highest level of the country’s research institutions with the new R1 naming. This teacher represents a transformational moment for the university, canceling new opportunities for leading discoveries, industrial partnerships, and students’ success. Electrical and engineering faculty members lead to research and teaching in artificial intelligence, robots and automation, cloud computing, cybersecurity, wireless energy transport, electricity, digital vehicles, smart vehicles, smart and sustainable cities, transformational energy systems and more.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering currently records approximately 570 university students and 160 graduate students and employ 36 faculties and 6 employees. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Electrical engineering students may add a focus in energy and energy systems, and students in both programs can add a concentration in machine learning. the Master’s degree In electrical engineering and computer engineering, as well as a doctorate in electrical engineering it is classified at the national level.
The president will cooperate and develop academic activities, research and communication in departments in the context of the vision of the department, college, university and the strategic plan. The responsibilities of the head of the department can be divided into four initial areas: employees, student affairs, graduates, budget, planning, management and service. The president will support the mission of management in several ways, including:
- Strategic cooperative planning efforts in the long term focus on achieving excellence in both teaching and research. These activities must include coordination and participation with the consulting councils of the college;
- The short -term / operating implementation and implementation procedure;
- Guidance, supervision and support of faculty and employees;
- Supporting the efforts of faculty members and its initiatives by enhancing multidisciplinary cooperation, industry and resource provision;
- Securing external and internal financing;
- Improving curriculum design, including accreditation planning and review preparation;
- Conducting research and spreading scientific work in the field (fields) related to experience; and
- Teaching courses in related fields in both university levels and postgraduate studies.
Applicants must have a PhD degree in computer engineering, computer or close field. This obedient position is open to applicants who have credit papers and experience to suit a full professor. Candidates must have 1) An academic record proven for scientific achievement, teaching and administrative leadership in computer or computer engineering or a related field; 2) The ability to work through disciplines to lead a growing multi -faceted section by developing a strong vision for the future has shown; 3) It showed the ability to cooperate and build work partnerships at the national and international levels; And 4) The ability to lead the administration as shown in the basic job duties.
