Researcher Assistant (fixed period) at the University of Nottingham
location: Soton Bonington
Applications are invited to obtain the position of post -PhD researcher to work on a BBSRC project that seeks to develop temperature -resistant rice by exploiting the new genetic material to provide improved heat sensation and future future rice returns. The project is located in Professor Zoe Wilson and Eric Murchi (Soton Bonington campus, Nottingham University, UK).
The proliferation of rice, especially the development of pollen, and optical representation, is very sensitive to heat stress, which leads to great effects on the seed group, which poses a major threat to future return and food security. It is not known whether the reproductive failure is due to the development of pollen is especially sensitive to heat, or a secondary result to disable energy generation by weak optical representation, or a mixture of the two. This project aims to address this basic question, in addition to developing the genetic material and signs of rice to enable the spread of rapid features in education programs for thermal stress flexibility in the agricultural field environment. This work includes a partnership with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in the Philippines, which will enable the tes of the genetic material of rice under roaming thermal stress conditions, and the use of rice groups created to resist and define the characteristics. It will also include a detailed analysis of many of the nominated genes that we already have identified with the resulting apparent pattern.
Applicants should be very paid and self -self, with a doctorate degree in the relevant plant science region (experience in working with rice, plant cloning, optical representation and advanced apparent pattern is desirable). A successful candidate is expected to have experience in some of the following areas: plant science, plant cloning, optical representation, biological stress, rice cultivation, and a busy record of publishing research.
This is a full -time, fixed -term (36.25 hours), which is available from 13Y October 2025 on a specific contract until 12Y October 2028.
