About the role

It will contribute to innovative teaching and advanced research in nuclear engineering. The role includes developing and providing flexible and high -quality educational materials that enhance students’ experience and ability to employ, while acting actively in research that teaches practice and supports university reference strategy. There is a special focus on neutrons to teach in this functional role.

Besides your research work, this role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our nuclear engineering programs, especially as part of the higher degree industrial disciple. You will need to be aware of the expectations for delivery of vocational training that links learning based on academic learning. You will need to communicate with employers in your education to ensure its compatibility with the sector’s expectations. You will also be encouraged to work with Rolls Royce and the supply chain to build on the current research capabilities of the region.

Expecting the expected date of the interview: Friday, November 7

This role is employed by Derby University, but it works in partnership with Rolls-Royce SuPmarines Ltd. Due to the nature of the work that Rolls-Royce SuPmarines Ltd requires the protection of some assets, and some roles within the Nuclear Skills Academy (NSA) post-Dutch (SC).

This role currently does not require SC’s permit, and this will not be a condition for appointment in this role. However, please note that there may be a future condition for a successful candidate to check SC if any change in circumstances makes this necessary due to the development of the National Security Agency in the coming years.

About you

The ideal candidate will hold a doctorate (or near completion) on a related topic, or has an equivalent professional achievement, with a commitment to continuous development. You will have experience in nuclear engineering or relevant disciplines, with a special focus on neutrons, and can contribute to both teaching and research in areas such as nuclear life cycle, power generation systems, integrity safety, and emerging nuclear technologies. It is necessary to experience higher education and confidence in using a variety of delivery methods, as well as excellent communication skills, to participate and inspire students.

You will show a strong basis in your topic, it is clear from active outputs based on practice that contributes to the reference and is in line with the university’s research strategy.
