Our team is responsible for managing trees owned by the Council and the Road Rights Network, responding to planning applications and providing our green infrastructure strategy.

You will manage the small environment team with the work area that includes primarily a priority to responses to planning applications (including BNG), gathering reports (including completion of habitat regulation evaluations), providing advice for planning and advice for colleagues in the major projects of the council. You will also support the delivery of the Nature Park and win the net biological diversity on the council -owned lands. We support the continuous professional development activity of our environmental scientists according to CIEEM standards, including developing the expertise needed to license species.

Main responsibilities:

  • It leads to advice to the emerging local plan including the development of complementary planning guidelines, assistance in achieving clear gains for biological diversity, cooperation in nature recovery networks and delivery of a strategy to restore local nature, explore the chances of wet land restoration, communication with colleagues and partners throughout West England, and being part of a large -scale project to better understand and protect Batse Bats and create Strategy.
  • Environmental team management and support for the provision of the natural environment team plan and green infrastructure strategy, with a special focus on professional environmental advice for planning for development management through consultation responses and advanced through environmental service before application.
  • Providing technical support for the most complex situations and is a role model for best practices.

Basic standards:

  • Professional professional qualification or experience at least from 6 or higher levels, related to the environment and the field of the natural environment
  • Understanding environmental planning issues
  • Experience of habitat regulations evaluation
  • The first stage of extended environmental surveys, maps, and habitats classification in the United Kingdom.
  • A good understanding of protected species, especially bats
  • Knowing extensive work of wildlife, legislation and relevant policy to protect and enhance it.
  • The ability to manage/organize a special work and work for colleagues to fulfill the agreed deadlines
  • Member of CIEEM (or qualification)
