Worksafebc is currently seeking a cooperative and strategic legal leader to join our organization as General participant. This opportunity arises due to the internal promotion that reflects our commitment to career and driving growth.

To submit reports to the head of law, politics and the general advisor, the Assistant General Adviser will lead a talented legal team that includes about 35 professionals and oversees a large -scale portfolio of legal services. This is a major leadership role that supports our operations by providing high -level legal advice in areas such as Business Law, Legal Interpretation, and Governance of senior leaders throughout the organization.

We are seeking a strategic legal leader with strong experience in the business law and experience in managing legal teams in complex environments. The ideal candidate brings a proper judgment, a cooperative approach, and the ability to fit legal services with regulatory priorities. Experience within the public sector, or with legal frameworks such as the Law of Workers Compensation, is one of the assets. We are looking for a person who can build confidence with the high leadership, his teacher and develop a high -performance team, contribute to a legal job that responds, focuses on solutions, and is based on public service values.

In this role, you will work primarily from our office in Richmond with some flexibility to work from your home in BC

• Provide strategic legal advice that focuses on business to support decision -making via a complex organization.
• Leadership, teacher and development of a large and varied legal team that enhances both legal experience and business acumen.
• Building strong confidence -based relationships with the high leadership, and gain credibility as a major consultant.
• Mobility and guidance on legal issues related to management Workers compensation law.
• Applying the proper and mental judgment directed towards solutions to the complex legal and regulatory challenges.
• Cooperation through departments and with external stakeholders to support organizational goals and compliance.
• Imposing an understanding of the broader public sector, its legal environment, politics and governance.
• The hero of the culture of excellence, integration, and continuous improvement within the legal team and outside.

We are looking for a lawyer with one or more experience of the purchasing law, commercial services contracts, service contracts in the workplace, privacy law, administrative law, ethics, corporate governance, and the legal interpretation that can:

• Leading and inspiring a highly performance legal team, supporting professional development and enhancing a culture of cooperation and accountability.
• Building confidence and credibility with senior leadership and stakeholders throughout the organization.
• Show excellent judgment and move on legal issues and complex governance with confidence and integrity.
• Apply a deep understanding of legal frameworks such as Workers compensation law And the public sector rule.
• Think strategically while managing daily legal operations effectively and efficiently.
• Work through specializations and departments to advance the compatibility between legal services and organizational priorities.
• Inclusion and effectively with the internal and external stakeholders, including those of various backgrounds and sectors.
• A model constantly the appropriate level of the expected organizational behaviors of all Worksafebc: Response, respectable, fair, cooperative, responsibility, and thinking forward.

Your background and your experience

• The doctor’s certificate in law or a bachelor’s degree in law, and is a current practitioner of the Association of Law in British Colombia.
• Fifteen years experience in practicing law in one or more areas related to the situation and the experience of previous administration.
• Experience as an internal consultant in the public sector is one of the assets.
