Opportunity
Sechel County seeks to a dynamic and experienced director of public business to lead our dedicated team in maintaining and strengthening the infrastructure of society. After submitting reports to the Director of Engineering and Operations, this main leadership role is responsible for the operations, maintenance and cleanliness of all municipal facilities, fleet, property and infrastructure.
As a manager, you will provide strategic guidance and practical support for public works employees, ensuring high -quality services and compatibility with the goals and goals of departments. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful effect on an increasing coastal society. The main responsibilities include:
- Leadership, training, scheduling and supervision of public works staff, and enhance the culture of safety, accountability and teamwork.
- Ensuring compliance with all boycott policies, procedures, practices, Worksafebc regulations and all the external regulations in force.
- Fleet management and municipal equipment, including maintenance, purchases and stock control.
- Supervising the administrative budget and purchase and the allocation of resources.
- Responding to emergency situations after working hours and coordinating appropriate procedures.
- Treating public inquiries and concerns with professionalism and ingenuity.
- Cooperation with engineering in planning and implementing the capital project.
- Coordination of contractors, internal resources, and permits (archaeological and environmental) to complete public works projects.
- Communicate with external stakeholders, contractors and other levels of the government.
Role requirements
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- BC Class 5 (or equivalent) driving license with a clean driving record.
- The minimum is 5 years of progressive experience in municipal public works or a related field.
- The ability to manage and maintain a variety of municipal equipment (for example, Backhoe, discharge, excavator, street sweeping, snow/ice control equipment).
- Experiment to overseeing sewage collection systems.
- He mastered reading and interpreting engineering and technical graphics.
- In -depth knowledge of risks, safe regulations, safe work procedures and practices related to public works and gathering wastewater (such as fossils, entry into the area, locking, working alone, dealing with chemicals, dangerous commodities, biology, traffic safety and more).
- Strong mechanical efficiency.
- The ability to respond effectively to emergency situations and make proper decisions under pressure.
- Excellent dealing skills with others with the ability to resolve conflicts and build positive relationships with employees, two years, elected officials, and external partners.
- Verbal and strong written communication, leadership and administrative skills.
- Efficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- Organizational management and time management skills showed the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast -paced environment.
- Strong skills to solve problems and analytical thinking.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate tact and maintain cooperative work relationships.

Work conditions
This is a full -time regular role, excluded from the bargaining unit. Working hours are 35 hours a week, from Monday to Friday, although flexibility in responding to emergency calls after working hours is required. The salary range for this floor is $ 116.020 – 125,790 dollars annually based on experience, as well as extended benefits, pension package, and six weeks holiday to start.
