Organizers The responsibility for linking internal and societal campaigns bears by organizing teams in the workplace, conducting home visits, performing workers ’assessments, planning, and organizing work and comprehensive campaigns while strengthening long -term relations with community allies to enhance the common goals of the Union and Society. Organizers will enhance the broader strategic goals of the Federation by taking advantage of societal support and partnerships.

Basic responsibilities The community organizer may be responsible for any mixture of the following:

  • Recruits and developing the leaders of the work site to participate in the activities of the Federation.
  • Development of volunteer organizers from within the membership.
  • It develops wide teams and organized organizations from work leaders, and train them to transfer work organization campaigns.
  • He visits work sites to communicate with workers.
  • Workers visit their homes.
  • It creates publications, social media, videos, newsletters, and other materials for internal and external organizational campaigns as needed.
  • It takes place and creates site charts. Maintains the menu, which may include and operate the computerized database systems.
  • The supervisor of activities, developments and progress in the organization, including workers ’meetings, is reported.
  • It deals with long -term relationships and enhances them with community organizations to achieve common goals.
  • It organizes and supports events, forums and activities with members of the Federation, members of society and/or community organizations to support and enhance the goals of the Federation.
  • It develops and implements political education initiatives for both members and community allies
  • It works as the delivery of employees dedicated to Taaka committees to support the Federation’s work.
  • It meets the goals and deadlines.
  • Return phone calls immediately, especially for members.
  • Full administrative tasks such as expense reports.
  • It works cooperatively with leaders, employees and advocacy organizations. It accepts and applies notes and constructive criticism from supervisors, leaders and other employees.
  • The relevant work leads as required.

Education and experience
High school diploma and at least 3 years experience in organizing the union and/or society; Or any equivalent mix of education, experience that provides knowledge, skills and the following capabilities:

  • Knowing the practices and principles of organizing the union, such as bargaining for the public good
  • Driving and motivational skills
  • Oral and writing communication skills are good.
  • Group facilitation skills and use of unanimous decisions.
  • Dual language skills fluently desirable.
  • The basic knowledge of the labor laws and the employer’s tactics to combat the union, especially with regard to the regulation of unions.
  • Basic computer skills, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Emil drivers.
  • Knowledge is encouraged by how to use digital communications, including social media, in the context of organizing and people of color to apply.

Additional requirements:

  • An extended day and travel overnight.
  • Prepare for long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
  • You must have a valid Maryland driver’s license, car insurance with work coverage, and a car for commercial use.
  • Spanish language/favorite English

Physical requirements (As required by Ada)
The work is carried out in a variety of employment settings. Leadership, travel, temporary tasks, irregular and extended working hours are required.
