About the role

Project title

The emergence, perseverance and control of the risks of influenza origin

Project objectives scheme

The general goal of this project is to develop an understanding of the demographic, administrative and behavioral characteristics that affect the risk of the transmission of bird influenza viruses (AIV) inside poultry farms and between humans and humans in Indonesia. This will allow us to provide important information for farmers, governmental authorities and the general public in Indonesia to implement appropriate monitoring and interventions to reduce the risk of human exposure to HPAI.

The main delivery of this grant will be an increased understanding of the human health effects of HPAI outbreaks in Indonesia, identifying high -risk areas and exploring adaptive strategies appropriate to the outbreak of the future. The Indonesian team has a busy record in working with local policy makers, which will guarantee our policy recommendations for the appropriate national authorities and local practitioners.

The project investigators and the successful candidate for this position will cooperate closely with the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization during the project, thus increasing the regional and global impact of this research.

About you

We are looking for a person with experience in the modeling of infectious diseases in LMACS, especially with experience working on zoonotic diseases. Applicants must be skilled in developing spatial epidemic models, integrating behavioral data into epidemic models, and installing these models with real world data (including manipulation and exchange of experimental data). In addition, applicants must have experience interacting with policy and design makers in silico experiences while taking into account real world policies.
