A great researcher at the University of Lancaster
Linguistics and English in the College of Social Sciences at the University CELIA (CELIA) Project (Celia) (CELIA). The CELIA project, which is funded by the European Union, aims to devise the procedures for analyzing, improving and improving language, which are used by the deportation authorities in the European Union when investigating the identities of asylum seekers and countries of origin.
In close cooperation with colleagues at the University of York, the Lancaster sub -project contributes specifically to systematic development and testing automatic and semi -automatic language indicators of Arabic language variables. The sub -project turns into solutions in linguistics, speech science and speech technology for nutrition in these lines from the Celia project. In line with the guidance of the CELIA project, it enhances the methods specified in the focus of clarification, transparency and the use of reliable standard training data.
Main responsibilities
- Air conditioning and testing the current classification technology/automatic dialect
- Generating results and visualization of data to reflect the performance of the system under different circumstances
- Cooperation with the project team to evaluate the system’s objective performance objectively
- Contribute to the development of project reports and academic outputs
Postholder is not already aware of the accent/automatic dialect classification systems, but it will have a clear experience in learning, using and testing new methods and language techniques. In addition, Posttholder will have that they can meet the project’s final dates and reports through a set of presentation modes (for example, oral offers, written reports and publications).
PostHolder will have a doctorate degree in speech science, speech technology, linguistics, data science, computer science, or related discipline. Ideally, they will have experience working with large data collections of speech or language recordings by programming in a language like Python or the like.
A parallel job is also announced at York University for the researcher with specializations in Arabic.
The successful applicant will be in the post by 1street December 2025, or as soon as possible after that. The publication is full and fixed period for 24 months. The role will be dependent on the Brainrigg campus in Lancaster, but Agile’s work may be possible in this role, providing the series’s opportunity to divide their work time between and outside the campus.
