Pellingham city enthusiastic to announce an opportunity for an experienced GIS manager to join our IT Department. This position plays a vital role in forming the GIS for institutions in the city, which is a very integrated system based on the ESRI that supports operations through many departments.

As the director of GIS, you will be responsible for identifying the vision of the geographic information systems systems, leading a talented team from the professionals of geographic information systems, and ensuring that data governance is a top priority. This means building and preserving the criteria that guarantee that our spatial geographical data is accurate, consistent, safe and reliable, so that employees and leaders throughout the city can trust them to make critical decisions. It will also direct the integration of geographical information systems with other basic systems such as allowing, financial management, document management and business management, which helps to make geographical information systems the true cornerstone platform for the city’s operations.

In this role, you will have an opportunity to combine the strategic vision with practical leadership. It will be supervised by geographic information systems projects at the level of institutions, system improvements, and programs to acquire programs while directing employees and coordinating the efforts of geographic information systems at the city level. Cooperation will be essential, as it will work closely with departments, sellers and other interests to promote the geographic information system as a commercial solution that improves services for our community.

We are looking for a person who has no deep technical experience in the geographical information system and data governance, but also flourishes in a leadership role-a person who can balance in the long term planning with daily implementation. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, geography, information systems, or relevant field (master’s degree), along with at least four years of gradual geographical information systems experience in the institution’s environment, and two years of experience in the field of project leadership, strong knowledge of the database design, web services, and data integration. GIS PROFESSIONAL (GISP) is very preferred.
