Luka Art School is a creative center of about 5,000 people: more than 4000 students and 800 colleagues. Luca provides them with an educational and research environment to increase the development of their creative talents. We do this by providing higher education in the widespread field of art, and through artistic research, which is included in the College of Arts associated with it in Co Loew. Luca has a university campus in four cities: Grad, Brussels, Louvin and Jenk. Luka is a member of the Co Leuven Association and the European University Alliance Flaio.

In the context of the artistic models and methods of the experience network, which will be appointed in the media, technology and experience (GENK), we are looking for a large and innovative researcher for the media to lead research based on practice in auditory media. We welcome creative researchers that explore the creative space between movies, animation and game design, in possible research fields such as virtual production, overwhelming stories, and experiences driven by artificial intelligence and more.

The ideal filter combines a strong creative practice with active academic profile (with, for example, posts in ACM IMX, Siggraph, ISEA or relevant cases). You are enthusiastic about directing and inspiring new generations of media makers, while dealing with the cultural, social and moral dimensions of new technologies in a critical way.

In addition to your research activities, you will play active teaching houses, with special attention to applying emerging techniques, experimental methodologies and critical thinking in current professional practices. You will integrate visions of your research in the curricula and direct students in translating theoretical and technological innovations into technical relevant applications within this field. As active research lecturer, you contribute to deepening and spreading new knowledge in the field of audiovisual arts.

This role is essential in shaping the future of education and auditory research through experimental cooperation with students, the media strategies looking forward, and the development of a new experience laboratory in audiovisual media.

The proposed start date is September 1, 2026.

research

As older lecturers, devote about half of your mission to search. Along with colleagues, a group of doctoral students and post -doctoral researchers will be built. It will achieve a result in search of international standing and external financing for additional research. The status of the private guest lecturers in the arts allows you to be a doctorate supervisor in art and research projects within the Co Loew.

teaching

Your task includes teaching tasks within Luca Audiovual Arts & Media and Luca Cregate. This is mainly located in the movie “GENK CAMPUS” program. The task is broader than teaching and supervising and evaluating students. Along with colleagues, you can develop teaching and learning activities, specially designed for students ’audiences and in the context of the curricula and program definition file. You also contribute actively to the quality of the program, and you are the Ambassador of Luca in relation to potential students and graduates.

service

Scientific, social and internal services are also part of the task, as well as professionalism and international networks. It is also expected that you will play a leadership role in Luka and Co Levin at certain times.

You have a research portfolio touching one of the following topics; Distinctive or post -disciplinary approach to creating visual hearing, telling interactive stories, or means created by artificial intelligence, virtual production, or the like.

You have an active participation in international technical research networks and societies.

You have a deep understanding of the dynamics of the transformation in the contemporary media industry, especially the increasing rapprochement between the areas of animation, movies and game development. This cross pollination of specializations is not only familiar land for you, but the driving force in your practice.

You are enthusiastic about the facts of production, applied methods, and advanced needs of the professional field – including broadcasts and broadcasting platforms – and you can consider them critically about both teaching and research. Your multidisciplinary profile enables you to direct students in moving and contributing to the media scene quickly, as hybrid forms, workflow and roles are the rule.

You hold a doctorate.

You have social and educational skills, you are collective and communicate, and stimulate the development of your experience constantly. You act with respect and with integrity, in line with the Luka Code. You contribute to a comprehensive work and study environment, you are open to different opinions, and the diversity of value between individuals and groups as the origin.

You are able to teach in Dutch or English, and/or be prepared (if necessary) to be efficient in both languages. Luka will ensure language training opportunities.

These vacancies are dedicated to the legal appointment of the non -specified period for a 100 % vacant position with the “OP3) rank at Luka College of Art. An independent position can be applied in time. In addition, you will get a special guest lecturer in the arts inside the Co Lofen for five years.
