Project Summary:

A researcher/research colleague in the biological security of the farm animal

We are looking for an excellent research colleague as part of the European Animal Partnership and Welfare (EUPAHW; https://www.eupahw.eu/) initiative. This project will focus on the support of farmers, veterinarians and other stakeholders who are important to participate in developing a framework to enhance biological security practices on non -intense agricultural systems as part of the unions involved in researchers from a number of European countries. The work in the United Kingdom will be funded by Defra, and the work will be closely included with the agricultural charitable innovation of agriculture (https://www.i4agri.org/).

A successful candidate will conduct research with farmers, veterinarians and other stakeholders through concentration groups, interviews and document analysis, which will include some data on the farm. The candidate will also cooperate with other researchers who carry out similar curricula in other European countries by providing systematic support and comments. The aim of this is to participate in creating a comprehensive framework for biological security that will be tried on farms.

This is an exciting opportunity for a person to work at the forefront of research that focuses on biological security, with the aim of the resulting collective products to cause great positive effects for agricultural and veterinary societies. The applicant must have a doctorate degree, preferably in veterinary epidemics, social sciences, health psychology or preventive medicine. Experience in working with many stakeholders is required, with experience in the qualitative research approach.

The successful applicant will join the friendly research team and high motivations at the Evidence -based Veterinary Medicine Center at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Science at the University of Nottingham. The team previously won the university’s Tri-Campus Award for the most comprehensive/supportive research team inside Nottingham. This group has strong research contacts throughout the school and university.

The focus will be mainly on research (85 %) with some limited administrative duties. There will be opportunities for a successful candidate to direct researchers in graduate studies.

This role is available on a specific period from December 1, 2025 to 31street May 2028 at 1.0FTE (36.25 hours per week), looking at 0.8FTE (29 hours/week; 1street December 2025 to November 31, 2028).
