The Basic Physics Directorate (FPD) is looking at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory for Candidates in the World Assistant (similar to the research work performed by an assistant world professor at the university) with a busy record of research in artificial intelligence and basic physics, widely defined. This includes experienced candidates in the application of methods to solve theoretical or experimental challenges as well as experienced candidates in developing statistical or mathematical methods related to basic physics. Preference will be given to candidates with efficiency and attention to communicating with more than one FPD research field.
SLAC and Stanford have a long history of scientific leadership in artificial intelligence and basic physics. At the same time, this is a FPD growth field and will help the successful candidate to determine the future trends of AI in FPD, build a community in the laboratory and with researchers on the Stanford campus. This includes integration with artificial intelligence efforts at the SLAC level as part of the scientific computing and integrated data initiative and with the universe decoding center, a joint initiative for Stanford Data Data Science and the Cavuli Institute for Astronomical Physics of Partitions and Coptic Science (KIPAC).
Looking at the nature of this position, SLAC will require work on the site.
Specific responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Develop a global research effort in artificial intelligence and basic physics, as it was measured through influential research papers, programs and scientific results.
- Providing some support / training for the local scientific community.
- Developing the goals and concentration of new and enhanced artificial intelligence areas in SLAC, centered on strategic trends at the laboratory level.
- Develop the basic funding at HEP account in SLAC to support the chosen candidates program by the end of the appointment of assistant scientists – including the increasing support outside the DOE/HEP and perhaps falsify partnerships with industry.
- Post -PhD, colleague research and graduate students, and the provision of engineering and technician employees.
Note: This position at the level of auxiliary world (level 2). The assistant world is a specific research staff from 3 to 5 years.
