Professor Role of Paths in the virus is a common point between the MRC/UVRI & Lshtm Uganda and MRC-Weuniversity of Glasgow Center for Virus Research (CVR). This is a unique leadership opportunity to form a global virus agenda by bridging advanced field research in Africa with laboratory sciences and advanced translation in the United Kingdom.

The successful candidate will hold a doctorate with an internationally recognized busy record in virus, viral immunology, or viral epidemics, as well as experience installed in influential and multidisciplinary research and securing competitive financing. They will prove strategic leadership and vision mode, an excellent post, the ability to provide high -quality and informed teaching and doctoral supervision. A strong commitment to guidance, capacity building, and the promotion of fair global health partnerships is essential, as well as a clear future research agenda and experience in managing cooperative research teams and important projects portfolios. The candidate will also show a profound understanding of fairness and integration in research and education, with a passion for cultures that create a real influence.

This post is 35 hours full -time per week, 1FTE and fixed duration with a preliminary period of five years and a strong institutional commitment to long -term scientific leadership and renewal. The post is funded by the Medical Research Council (part of research and innovation in the United Kingdom) and is immediately available.

The salary scale will be on the professor in the range of 74139 pounds sterling – 117,538 pounds annually (including weighting in London). The post will be subject to LSHTM terms and service provisions. The annual leave right is 30 working days per year, PRO RATA for part -time employees. In addition, there are appreciation “welfare days”. Pension scheme membership is available. The post is primarily in Uganda, with active cooperation and travel to Glasgow.
