A large researcher of data -based weather and climate modeling (fixed period) at Cambridge University
Recent developments in machine learning have opened a variety of data -based modeling techniques that show unprecedented capabilities to replace traditional models with rapid approximation. One of these areas in which the models based on machine learning appear greatly in the highly low calculations. Moreover, data -based technologies can cover the entire prediction pipelines, in some cases avoid the need for the state and work directly on notes. More work is needed to develop models for operational contexts, integrate with a variety of notes across different scales, and use to predict accurately with extremism, seasonal change, topical expectations and more. There is also a gap between weather and climate modeling in this field; More work is needed to understand whether techniques that work well for concrete NWP can be applied to the longer time period of climate predictions. These are the vast areas that concern this position at the Computing Institute of Climate Science.
The institute is a joint project between applied mathematics departments, theoretical physics, computer science and technology, and university information services, thanks to charitable financing and scholarships. ICCS aims to support developments in weather and modeling through a multidisciplinary approach, dependence on Earth sciences, mathematics, statistics, software engineering, computer science, and machine learning.
He will be headquartered in DAMTP and linked to Queen’s College. This is a period of one year that includes support for search expenses, allowing Sra to apply for financing as a major investigator. As part of the University of Cambridge, ICCS is an educational component and a large training, by adhering to the exchange of its scientific visions on a large scale, and will contribute strongly to Cambridge Zero, the university’s climate change initiative.
Duties include identifying, developing and conducting individual and cooperative research objectives, proposals, projects and researching research budgets. You are responsible for the investigation and the presentation of your search programs, evaluation, interpretation and evaluation of results. You are expected to expand and apply knowledge, contribute to publications, attend, and communicate with complex ideas to those who have limited knowledge. You will determine the sources of financing, help secure funds and develop links with external contacts. You may be expected to contribute to teaching, supervision of study students, and its colleagues, and implement the assessments.
