The Deputy Minister of Housing Services is an executive strategic position that focuses on youth in housing programs and facilities within Maryland. This executive role requires a guarantee of the highest standards of care, safety and rehabilitation services for the detained youth, while strengthening an environment that supports positive behavioral changes and a successful reintegration to their societies.

This position:

  • Residential service employees enables to improve how youth and families experience the juvenile eliminating system and improve the results of youth and society safety;
  • Strategic reform initiatives leadership that focuses on youth accountability while creating paths to succeed in a system that appreciates property, inclusive and safety rights;
  • It begins and runs cooperative partnerships with stakeholders in the justice system, including youth, families, community organizations, law enforcement, government governments, local governments, state agencies, local agencies, judicial authority, and legal advisor;
  • It runs and trains an executive team to implement and develop innovative strategies aimed at linking young people and families with appropriate services for development, evidence based, support and opportunities and achieving positive results for young people;
  • It coordinates with the units of other departments, such as those responsible for stocks and integration initiatives, community and support services, and research and evaluation functions to develop a coherent approach to support employees, youth, families and societies.

This position provides executive oversight of 5 detention programs, 3 treatment programs and one shelter program; Effective management facilities guarantee, program use, adherence to evidence -based practices that enhance youth safety, high -quality care, qualifying results and youth -focused planning.

The minimum qualifications

education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited institution of higher education.

expertise: Eight (8) years of experience in working with the executive leadership, in addition to at least five (5) years of direct experience in working with young people under the supervision of the court, or in justice to young people, alternative societal places, or in the role of direct service equivalent with young people.

Required or favorite qualifications

The favorite candidate for this position will have the following:

  • A master’s degree in social work, social sciences, law, behavioral health or legal studies are preferred;
  • Clear evidence of the development of a team, organizational strategy and accountability of its results;
  • Great experience in designing and implementing the initiatives of diversity, stocks, integration, and participation;
  • An installed experience overseeing residential installations, leading behavioral change programs and modifying effective behavior of young people who are involved in justice.
