According to the job platform NucleusThe country level survey of more than 20,000 job seekers in more than 80 industries and eight cities, one out of every two professionals (45 %), sees that the gender wage gap in India still exceeds 20 %. More importantly, both men and women participate in this view. This belief was stronger in information technology (56 %), the medicine cycle (55 %) and cars (53 %).
The impact of the functional break was particularly evident among professionals in 5-10 years (54 %) and 10-15 years (53 %) of brackets-the stages of life when maternity breaks are the most common.
Half of all professionals surveyed (50 %) informed it as the broader gender -wage industry, real estate that surpassed offers (21 %), FMCG (18 %) and banking services (12 %). This perception was particularly strong among the younger professionals, with 53 % of new students (1-2 years) and 55 % of the average level (2-5 years) who determine it as the largest of the perpetrator.
Geographical, technology centers in India – Hyderabad (59 %) and Bangaluru (58 %) – have reported the highest concerns about inequality in IT.
The poll found that senior professionals viewed the gender wage gap more strictly. Nearly half of the respondents said with 10-15 years (46 %) and 15 years (47 %) of experience that the gap is still above 20 %. While sectors such as flights (57 %), education (52 %), and IT (50 %) reflects more clear perceptions of inequality, traditional industries such as oil, gas and retail provides a more positive look. In oil and gas, more than one in four respondents said the gap was minimal (0-5 %). When they were asked about how the gap is blocked, professionals referred to an overwhelming majority to the performance -led promotional performances. More than a third (34 %) of the respondents chose this most effective solution, with a rise to 39 % among those who have 15 years of experience. Also supported by bias -free and transparent employment (27 %) and transparent wage practices (21 %) on a large scale, especially in city groups such as Nuwaida and GorgownWhere the calls for wage transparency were the strongest. The results of the survey confirm that although the gender wage gap is widely recognized through industries and job levels, causes and solutions differ according to the region, sector and sex. Functional breaks and bias in the workplace remain central challenges, but regular interventions-such as the progress made by merit, transparent employment practices, and supportive work policies-bearing the key to building a more fair future in India.
