Missouri Nia is looking for our applicants Field lawyer position. Mnea provides legal invitation and services for local unions and members in areas of public schools and colleges in Missouri. The position of field lawyer will help achieve Mnea’s mission by supporting Missouri Nea Uniserv (field representatives) and local association leaders, and they represent the activity of local members and unions in various matters related to employment and employment. Acting issues will include contract enforcement from individual contracts and collective negotiation; Disciplinary issues against our members, such as separation and cancellation of the license; And investigations by administrative agencies. This position will be directed by the General Adviser and CEO of the association.

(Traveling throughout Missouri State for Meetings and Representation Issues on a regular basis – other expenses are covered by the association.

Qualifications:

  • required:

    • PhD certificate from ABA accredited law
    • Active Missouri Law license
    • Strong research, writing, oral and analytical advocacy, communication, customer management and relationships
    • Prepare for travel, valid driving license and car insurance

The responsibilities of the situation:

  • Members and/or local unions in disputes at work are represented in matters of certificates suspended before the state education council, the local education council, the higher ED or arbitration administration, and in investigations and resumption of the pediatric department in Missouri.
  • Providing legal advice to local members/unions, UNISERV managers, and other association/leadership employees in employment matters.
  • Providing and coordinating workshops and training courses on legal issues for members and Mnea employees, including articles contributing to publishing, workshops, training courses on calling for the local population, and training in association conferences and events.
  • Attending all the events sponsored by Missouri NEA according to the necessity and directed by the CEO Mnea and/or a general advisor such as representative societies and a text required in the Missouri NEA board of directors
  • In conjunction with the external lawyer or independently if appropriate, Mnea is represented in the administrative affairs of the court, the agency, commercial agreements, contracts and real estate affairs.
  • Help in reviewing and drafting legislation, state administrative rules, and messages on behalf of the association, as needed.
  • Helping in the mass deposit program of Missouri Nea by reviewing local negotiation contracts on a regular basis to submit suggestions to improve language, assist in developing and implementing local trade union negotiations, and helping to develop and continue to update the local collective negotiation agreement.
  • Help in formulating EEOC complaints on behalf of the organs and if mediation occurs, it represents the mediation organ during the EEOC process.
  • The attendance and representation of Missouri NEA in the meetings of the National Lawyers Organization for Education Associations, ULSP Coordinator meetings and other meetings as directed.
  • Performing other duties as appointed, including but not limited to, routine administrative tasks such as completing and submitting activity reports, activity reports and leave requests.

Compensation and benefits:

  • This is the position of compromising unity in the unit of bargaining on the professional organization in Missouri. All salaries and benefits are subject to the union’s contract negotiations.
  • The competitive salary is subject to the position on the MPSO table, given the full set of expertise and skills of the candidate as shown in the MPSO-Mnea collective negotiation agreement. The current salary table allows for employment between $ 81,548 and $ 105,000. The agreement provides for a twelve (12) step schedule at the present time, the maximum of 127,554 dollars.
  • The employer provided by health, dental and life insurance; Employee/family teeth insurance life insurance 100 % currently paid; The health employee is currently only 100 % paid, coverage/marital currently supported partially.
  • 100 % modified pension plan funded by the employer equals 21 % of the total salary.
