Reducing tensions in PCA by enhancing mutual appreciation under the sovereignty of Christ
January 20, 2012
Today I would like to share my thoughts about the tensions that threaten PCA.
Christ put two types of men in PCA, men who are more orientation towards recognition (MCO) and men who are less recognized (LCO). This is his will. For many decades, I believe I thought it wisely. We need each other. Once we realize this, we will stop fighting from each other, and stop trying to persuade others to be like us, and we will be able to allow every type of man to do what Christ gave him to him. LCO men do not want to slip PCA to apostasy, but they do not want to spend a lot of energy to defend the Orthodoxy. Great, no! You have MCO men are happy to do so. We need these men. But we also need men who focus on other things. Do LCO men warn us of intellectual pride? Well, I am happy with these warnings because I needed them (and I still need them). Will it be based on the Orthodoxy on the authority of the Kingdom? no.
Frankly, I am not a man who knows how to get things up, so I came to admiration and respect those who do it. I need them even if they are LCO from me.
The danger is that both types of men, LCO and MCO see the other as tampering with serious weakness. I do not doubt that because of the inhabited sin, there is some truth about each group’s concerns about the other. But on a more fundamental level, each group represents the strength it needs. Christ divided his talents in this way so that we are weak, but we are united to submit to him, his strength is manifested in us. If all PCA men can learn to estimate the gifts they do not have and invite those who have such gifts working without condemnation, tensions between us will be reduced significantly.
What about apostasy? First, allow me to say that not every departure from automatically confessing to apostasy. The door may open, but then we need brothers who will make sure not to open the door. But if we turn to each other’s gifts, and confirm, when someone comes dangerously tries to open the door, like Peter Ins, men MCO can scream. Since they cherish the LCO men, these brothers are likely to listen and support efforts to really remove the dangerous men from our midst. But the MCO brothers could not be like the boy who cried the wolf. We cannot wake up in the weapon on every departure.
Let MCO Brothers do not excite their brothers in LCO for anger, and likewise, let Laco cherish their siblings MCO, and they are grateful to their sealing and do not make fun of that. Let them do what is talented by our Lord.
Sometimes the system may fail and the man may be in a platform that does not belong to there. This is not good, but it is not fatal either, even in St. Louis! The key is to prevent these men from spreading. If you cannot eliminate something, it contains it. We are more able to do it united than sniping each other.
If you are still reading, thank you for your patience and forgive my inability to be more brief. (This is actually intensified in reality from the first versions – Lol) Do you think this is true? I participate in such blogs so that the rusty iron can be sharpened by others, so sharpening dear brothers!
