Zion Park and Kolob Canyons
Zion National Park extends over two main valleys: The Classic and Soul Canyon, of course, on the southern side, and also Kolob Canyons in the northwest. Without a road linking these two regions, the garden has two entrances.
We were visiting a family from France and a friend in Vegas who recommended the entrance to Coloup, which is less popular and crowded, and does not require riding your car to arrest a shuttle. Zion Canyon is still worth a visit, especially if you can get early to secure a good place to park. Otherwise, Kolob Canyon also offers great views of the red slopes. The parking lots are also limited, but again, this aspect is less crowded.
We first traveled to the top, Kolob Canyons and raised us to Timbre Creek Overlook Trail short. Then he went to the road to Taylor Kreik Trail. While we wanted to drive to Price after that and get there before the dusk, I was given 90 minutes to explore that valley.
I did not know anything about this path, but I heard about 5 miles to a site worth watching called Double Arch Alcove. Format out and back along the creek, I thought I would divide time and switch in half the time.
This was a completely technical corridor and quickly lost the number of creek crossings. Sufficient injuries to running in the past years, so they expressed the rocks very carefully. However, I was slowly progressing, in a 12-13 minutes/mile and it was not even the stations account to take pictures! At least I was not alone, there were a few hikers, even a handful of families.
One mile, two miles, I was getting close to the dangerous time limit when the corridor turns from dust to clay and then snow, where the valley was narrowed and hung the corridor in light of the impressive slopes on both sides. 2.5 miles and there was a majestic alcove, at the end of the corridor. At least I managed to reach them, in time for some pictures and regained my way to return.
It is worth the bridge that is worth watching for a feeling of the size of the rocks that form Kolob Canyon. The absolute walls that challenge the 3D perception algorithm … (click This link Or the picture below)
Again, if you haven’t gone to Zion before, Zion Canyon is the best option if you can reach the main car park early. Otherwise, Kolob is a great alternative to appreciation of the greatness of this site and natural wonder; Very recommended! And with more time than I had, you can stroll between the two valleys, which seems more exciting!
