Summary: Local International Service Employees (SEIU) accepts 49 CVs from smart individuals who have a passion for helping workers to struggle for better working conditions, dignity in the job, and improvements in health care for all working families.

SEIU LOCAL 49 is a local federation of 14,000 members based in Portland, Oregon. The local is represented, and the public, security officers, and health care workers are organized throughout the state of Oregon and southwest of Washington. We are committed to helping workers struggle for social and economic justice in the job and in society.

Job title:
The leadership of Local 49 members have adopted an aggressive internal organization and representation program that includes the employment and development of the leaders of the work site, and to build the political force of workers, and represent our members strongly through direct work and organization. This position will be appointed to work with members of our airport, sabotings, washing and security.

Some specific duties must include:

• Determining, recruiting and developing the leaders of the work site and transferring workers to work.
• Developing and implementing effective contracts campaign plans.
• Motivating and inspiring workers to build their federation in the face of heavy employer opposition.
• Analytical skills are necessary to explain the language of the contract, investigate and address grievances, prepare contract and bargaining proposals, and assist in the committees of the employer/joint unions.
• Involving workers to support our political union program and our external organization program.
• Leadership and behavior of demonstrations, arrests, marches, training, meetings, and other events/procedures.
• Work for long and irregular hours, including nights, weekends and travel.
• Working in an environment of supportive and difficult supervision that focuses on winning our members and developing employee skills and capabilities as an integral part of what we do.
• Work on a team that builds more powerful for our members and conduct internal organizational campaigns that require you to extend your skills and grow as a regulator.
• Developing the skills of the leaders of the work site to do all the above.
• Participation actively in the activities of other union, political organization (including sclerosis/walking) and actions of solidarity.
• Other duties necessary to win as part of the employee movement, and as they were appointed

• Emotional dedication to improving the quality of workers and enthusiasm to participate in a wide range of activities, including external organization and politics.
• Personal communication skills and excellent communications, including the ability to successfully link people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.
• The enthusiasm and energy to work with workers ’leaders to develop their confidence, hope and skills as leaders of work.
• The ability to creatively solve problems and think about your feet.
• You must have a strong judgment and strategic meaning.
• It should be successfully able to perform in both independent settings and the team.
• You should be able to succeed in an environment of accountability in achieving the goals of the campaign and union.
• You should be ready to participate in a strong program to develop employees that enhance you and challenge you to develop your skills, experience and leadership.
• Internal Federation Experience: Execution of Contracts, Conclusion, and Experience with Grievance Procedures.

requirements:

• The minimum for one year of experience in filling or recruiting others in the similar social justice union or organization; At least 6 months experience in working in an internal environment.
• You must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to access a car to use work.
• Computer literacy.
• Some travel may be needed at the regional level.
• Spanish in the Spanish/English language plus.

compensation:
The salary ranges between 70317.84 dollars to 113,433.74 dollars depending on experience. Other advantages include a car allowance, fully paid family health care, sick leave and leave, pension plans and other advantages.
