A trainee in small animal surgery at Edinburgh University
Full time: 35 hours a week
Fixed term: 12 months
Opportunity:
Its headquarters is located inside the Hospital for Small Animals on the Easter Bush, Midlothian, and the training of small animal surgery for one year is an excellent preparation experience for those who are thinking about more clinical training.
The College of Veterinary Studies (Dick) has an international reputation for graduate training. Bone and cellular tissue surgery services provides the opportunity to develop clinical, educational and research acumen in a supportive environment to assist enthusiastic MRCVs to achieve their professional goals in small animal surgery.
Each trainee will also be associated with his teacher, to help follow up on a research project and guide on job progress. We are also proud of a prosperous program for continuing education inside the hospital, including weekly seminars for trainees, as well as practical sessions and magazine clubs. Candidates should enjoy enthusiasm, the desire to learn and the ability to work as part of a dedicated team in a crowded hospital.
This full -time post (35 hours per week), with an additional contribution to Rota outside working hours.
This post will be set in grade 6, step 1 which is 34,610 pounds annually.
Your skills and characteristics for success:
- Member of RCVs or qualified at the time of appointment
- The appropriate English language qualification

- Incursion and enthusiasm for small animal surgery
