Unlike your army’s experience, promotional offers in the private (civil) sector can be unpredictable.
Ascending to the next level of responsibility and leadership may have a lower relationship with your technical acumen, your longevity in jobs and merit in your current role. The promotion in the private sector can have more related to your reputation, love, decisiveness, and soft skills such as sympathy, teamwork and work ethics.
Understand promotional offers in the employer
How and when entertaining the promotion of employees is not very consistent and variable. A company may be promoted on a regular schedule – such as 12 or 18 months after work – while another company may only offer when there is an opening. Another may still reinforce “just” that they feel worth.

Before applying for the upgrade

- Are you qualified to upgrade? If you are going to benefit from training, building additional skills or certificates, it may not have not been perfect for following this.
- Do you know what you offer for the role that others may not play? Be clear about your value suggestion and knowledge of your competitors – inside and outside the company. This way, you can distinguish yourself clearly and confidently.
- Will people who will be asked for positive things about your nomination? You may be loved by those around you, but do you call for your progress? Do they look at you as a leader? It is good to know this before they are included as references.
Tips to meet the promotion
Treat the interview as you do with any job interview. to remember:
- Wear professional clothes (even if you are usually more relaxed in appearance) to show respect for the process and interview.
- Prepare, planning and search in advance. Just because you are currently working there, it does not mean that you are good, or current, on the company’s strategy and planning. Learn everything you can.
- Refrain from displaying arrogance. It might seem as if this does not need to be said, but the internal candidates sometimes bring an atmosphere of entitlement to a promotion conversation that could be outside the interviews.
- You have good, ready questions that depend on your inner knowledge as an existing employee.
- Show how and why you are ready to promote, and how you will lead in this new role and link your responses to counterparts and examples from within the company (as much as possible).
- Continue as you do with any other job interview. Although you may work in the hall of the one who performs the interview, maintaining the professional and respected quality of your follow -up (Shukr) as part of the operation.
It will bring some natural advantages to meet the promotion, but there can also be obligations. Talk to others who have gone through this process in the employer to find out the best ways to take advantage of your institutional knowledge and familiarity before entering the competition.
