Movin ‘on …

She made a sudden visit from a cousin last night, which I have not seen about 3 years ago.
He was aware that I was retired from clinical practice, but I was really surprised when I said I would retire, and that’s exactly what I meant. I loved my job (as GP and GP teacher) and missed them and the great people I worked with. But retirement for me is that exactly – moving to a new stage in my life where I do not spend most of my day dealing with all kinds of people with all kinds of problems.
I don’t really think my colleagues want me to put the brakes on any important decisions in this practice, and they must decide how to go forward. I can give them Twopnnyworth, but I think they can overcome it.
Therefore, I am no longer registered as a doctor in the General Medical Council, and I am pleased to be outside their potential clutches, because they do not inspire me as an organization.
My cousin changed his arrangements – he was dividing his life between Vancouver and Dunkaster, but he is now moving to Bristol (a beautiful city) where I will be able to visit him and his wife.
However, tomorrow I will go on vacation, and I will hope to write my way through France.
