The faculty wants to employ a part -time studies research assistant (0.4 FTE) to support Professor Darren Croft. This post, funded by NRC, in cooperation with Dr. Samuel Ellis from the University of Exeter, Professor Daniel Franks at York University, and Dr. Michael Weiss at the Pisces Research Center (USA) available from 1street In November 2025 (or as soon as possible after that) until 31street October 2028. The successful applicant will join a cooperative team that explores how information has reached the formation of social dynamics in the dead whales.

This project benefits from a group of unique 50 -year -old data on the extinction -bound numbers of extinction to investigate how individuals amend their social relationships in response to changing prey and partner loss and distributing environmental knowledge within social groups.

The successful applicant in the collection of data in the United States of America will help video and photos analysis, build and maintain a database, data analysis and write reports/manuscripts for publishing.

This position provides an exciting opportunity to work in the interface of the behavioral environment, memorization and data science, and to address basic questions about social behavior while generating visions directly related to preserving endangered species.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to provide information about the progress of research and results, and to inform complex information, by mouth, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will be taught to the first degree level or have qualified/equivalent experience in the field of relevant study or equivalent experience and be able to show adequate knowledge of discipline, research methods and technologies to work within the applicable research programs. The previous experience of collecting field data on deadly whales and photography analysis or video of the killer whale behavior will be a feature.
