We are looking for a dynamic legal professional with a busy record in providing clear, accurate and sound legal advice. By combining legal experience and skills directed towards service, the employer will be asked to interact quickly on a large scale of various legal issues that affect the agency’s work. In the role of the legal advisor, the job holder will act as a central point to ensure the legal cohesion of the agency’s work while enabling the implementation of the authorization.

Under the supervision of the Director of Corporate Services, the successful candidate will perform the following duties:

Legal advice and representation

• Providing advice and legal services to the EDA administration on issues related to proxy and its interaction with the external ecosystem (European Union institutions, member states, third parties, defense industry);
• Providing legal support to the agency’s operational directorates in implementing its projects and programs, as required;
• Providing legal advice regarding the interpretation of the legal framework as it is, as it may develop;
• Check the legal safety of the agency’s decisions;
• A draft or assistance in formulating various legal documents in the jurisdiction of the agency (such as the rules of public access to EDA documents, the governance framework, legal templates, etc.);
• Contribute to decisions and review them, internal guidance, policies, brochures, evidence, etc., as required;
• Providing legal advice on purchasing issues/contracting in close cooperation with the purchasing and contract unit.

Management and control

• Management of work burden, human resources and budget allocated to the legal unit, including the development of competencies and skills, and performance evaluation;
• Leading and empowering the team that enhances the cohesion of the team and the constant motivation;
• Supervising the maintenance of the agency’s warehouse for internal decisions, rules and unable legal obligations.

Contact and coordination

• Communication and ensuring sound and fruitful work relations with legal services for institutional counterparts in EDA and stakeholders (participating member states, European Union Council, EEAS, European Commission, European Union agencies, etc.);
• Coordination of the agency’s approach to litigation and procedures in which the agency is/may be a party.

Duties may develop according to the development of EDA structure and activities, and EDA management decisions.
