This role is part of the ESTATES operations and maintenance team within the Directorate of Technology, Real Estate and Utilities (DTEF). The team includes fully qualified and semi -skilled colleagues, who work alongside the university’s technical team as support for central infrastructure projects.

This role requires a mechanical biased merchants to maintain the infrastructure of university buildings equipment safely. You will be asked to pay special attention to the large heating network at the university, which includes two energy centers that contain natural gas boilers, a heat station and a combined power plant.

You will have practical skills and a strong focus on customers and good knowledge of modern technologies and control systems. The reliability of our equipment and operations is expected to improve. It will also provide specialized assistance and support for cross -disciplinary maintenance team. You have to have experience working with commercial heating systems, ventilation and air conditioning.

On occasions, you may be asked to provide support and assistance from working hours. For example: In the event of loss of services or an accident that may affect work, smooth running, or continuing the main infrastructure to the campus.

We work to a large extent basic hours from Monday to Friday between 8 am and 5 pm, but during the high demand periods, the team is expected to work with flexibility to ensure the continuation of the service. As part of the list, you are expected to be called sometimes to come to critical issues of business outside and weekend hours, with additional work.

The necessary skills, experience and qualifications

• NVQ (or equivalent) in heating and ventilation
• Knowledge of the work experience with complex heating and ventilation systems
• Knowing and flowing the work experience with constructive environmental management systems
• Knowing and experimenting with work with air dealing units and low voltage systems
• Knowledge of work experience with commercial heating and hot water
• Evidence of supporting our behaviors as detailed in a person’s specifications within the accompanying career description.
