What we need

The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, the non -profit organization (C) 3 (C) 3, is seeking a pioneering voice for protected waters in the United States, Education and Communication Coordinator Those who will work within the ocean islands center in the ocean (PIOEC) to implement education and communication program for the Pacific Islands region on behalf of the National Marine Reserves Office (ONMS) and the National Sanctuary.

By working cooperatively as part of a multi -agent team, OAHU is responsible for working with Papahānaumokuakaea and regional education employees in the Pacific Islands and awareness -raising employees for planning, implementing education and communication with islands on the islands. The coordinator works with government, public and academics partners for planning, coordination and facilitating education and communication activities in PIOEC and supports resort’s awareness programs and events according to directives. The situation requires a very independent professional performance that provides educational programs, services and influential educational communication to support the task of the Pacific Islands.

What will you do?

  • Informing and educating teachers, students, societies, stakeholders and visitors effectively, appropriate and strategic about Babahanoukuka and the Pacific Islands area;
  • Developing, modernizing and collecting curricula, presentation and educational resources used in lessons and activities about papahānaukuākea, the Pacific Islands area, and ensuring the compatibility of education materials with education and national standards;
  • Developing, integrating and promoting new materials and tools, which may include online tools for cooperation, interactive mobile applications and video tools to support educational programming as needed;
  • Design, promotion and leadership of teacher and students workshops;
  • Work with universities and local organizations, teachers training institutes, and societies to arrange workshops and use PIOEC, as well as with boat journey societies and open -air environmental programs to arrange meaningful experiences for participants in the education and communication program;
  • Coordination of education and communication events with Papahānaumokuākea and the Pacific Islands area;
  • Manage and update the communication lists of education and communication;
  • Participate in developing, planning and implementing education programs as part of the regional education team;
  • Organizing and facilitating the presentations of employees, events, using partner and visits to PIOEC;
  • Support Papahānaumokuākea and Pacific Islands, meetings as needed;
  • With the spirit of flexibility and respect for the joint team, it performs tasks as needed and was appointed to the success of the team in general.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited from four (4) years in education, teaching, communications, Hawaiian studies or relevant field;
  • Three to five years of experience in formal or informal education;
  • Experience in conducting workshops, evaluating education programs, and working in societies with various cultural and social and economic backgrounds;
  • Experience in developing curricula;
  • Knowing the natural history of the Pacific Islands, including the Hawaiian Islands, the American Samoa, and the remote Pacific Islands;
  • The ability to provide high -quality products and services to customers, external and internal partners, according to agreed timelines;
  • The ability to work cooperatively with a team independently;
  • Experience with desktop editing and planning program;
  • The ability to work in the evening evenings and holidays, and travel inside and outside Hawaii for training and other software needs;
  • The ability to travel on a small ocean craft;
  • Introduction with governmental and non -governmental organizations;
  • Regular presence is required;
  • Performing other duties as set.

Favorite qualifications:

  • Experience with video production equipment and editing programs.
