The Fea Education Association (FEA) is the largest professional employee association and the largest labor union in the southeast, and it represents more than 120,000 members. Among the members of FEA are teachers, education employees, faculty members in higher education, postgraduate aides, retirees, education students and professional teachers early. FEA represents the professional and practical interests of its members and plays a prominent role in shaping state policies that affect public schools. FEA is the integrated state association affiliated with the National Education Association (NEA) and the American Union of Teachers (AFT).

Summary of the situation:
the Director of the Service Unit Reports to the northern regional director of organizational and field services, assistance in daily operations and local assembly programs at the locations above. The successful applicant will coordinate service operations for the service unit, and provide consultation and assistance to elected and members in the areas of negotiation, contract management/ judgment on grievance, business administration, membership development, leadership, organizational development, internal and external communications, government and political calls, members reform, education reform, and other areas of attention or concern from the organization. In this position, SUD will serve the local unions in Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Taylor and Wakulla provinces. Note, local associations are subject to change. Repeated travel, long days, evening meetings, and some weekend obligations are required.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; It is preferable for a master’s degree.
  2. Knowing associations to work as a leader or employees.
  3. Successful experience in working with local education and local education staff. (favorite)
  4. At least two years as local employees or similar experience.
  5. The ability to maintain contracts, address grievances, member representation, and collective negotiation showed.
  6. Knowing the impasse and arbitration.
  7. Show efficiency in oral communication and writing.
  8. Experience with and understanding the programs and services of the Vocational Education Organization at the local, state and national levels.
  9. The ability to analyze school financing budget information.
  10. The ability to work cooperatively and driving projects has shown independently.
  11. A successful multi -task experience under narrow timing dates while maintaining attention to detail.
  12. A strong skill in using Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel).
  13. The ability to learn new special programs.
  14. The ability to work closely with professional employees and other assistants.
  15. Possession or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  1. The Director of the Service Unit is responsible for the daily operations and programs of the appointed local population, including the implementation and coordination of the implementation of the local assembly program, including communications, training, employee relations, minority concerns, educational and vocational development, promotion of membership, political interests, legislation, etc.
  2. The interface, advisory assistance, and support of the employees of the subordinate unit/local service unit/construction representatives/members of the committee/delegates/employees in planning and implementing collective negotiation, employee rights and contract enforcement programs. For example, but not limited to communications, the implementation of advanced advanced training programs and their delivery locally, local training programs, employee relations, minority concerns, bargaining, contract enforcement, membership enhancement, political procedures, legislation, program evaluation, etc.
  3. Plans, participation, and offers in the site -based report on the site, the development of local programs, budget, political work/legislative initiatives, and any other areas where local people seek to guide and assist.
  4. Leaders help develop planning and creating a system/process to measure effectiveness.
  5. Regular visits to work sites are being made to build positive relationships with local leaders and employees and apply for the leadership of the site leadership.
  6. The service unit’s offices are coordinated according to local policies.
  7. Maintains a positive relationship with organizations and other groups within the designated areas.
  8. It maintains a continuous positive relationship with local leaders and members of the council coordination within the units.
  9. He performs other duties as appointed by the Northern Regional Director of Organizational and Field Services or the designer.

Compensation and benefits:
The salary of this position is determined by the negotiating agreement between the Florida Education Association and the Florida employee organization on the basis of relevant experience. FEA provides medical insurance, teeth, vision, life and long -term insurance for its employees without the employee’s premiums.
