Description

The Basic Physics Directorate (FPD) invites the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory Post -PhD Research Applications to work on the experimental direct examination of the dark subject. The successful candidate in the Slac Liquid Noble Dark Matter (which consists of about 15 people) will primarily work to develop devices for the dark material -based material experiments, such as XLZD. There may also be opportunities to analyze data from the Lux-Zeplin experience.

It may include specific responsibilities to name a few:

  • Do the research and development to read light signals from the optical pipes in the refrigerated environments
  • Working with engineering employees to correct and develop the front electronics
  • Lead construction for Xenon testing platform for research and development studies
  • Use experimental data to study useful wallpapers in the liquid xenon detectors
  • Attending local weekly meetings, as well as cooperation and conference meetings to connect the results

Note: This is a two -year specific position with the possibility of extension. Research partners participate in designing, supporting,/operating and/or scientific development of the main programs of the laboratory, under the supervision of the supervisor. They are expected to work with a large degree of independence at or more tasks of the specified tasks to support the research program, and they often interact with the scientific community of the laboratory.

To be successful in this situation, you will bring:

  • PhD in physics or relevant discipline before the appointment start
  • Wallpaper in particle physics or astronomical physics research
  • Experience in data analysis
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to work in a team of employees, after the doctorate, students, engineers

Favorite qualifications, but not necessary:

  • Experience with devices, especially detector readings
  • Experience with noble liquid experiences

The expected payment range for this position ranges between $ 70,000 to $ 100,000 annually.
