We are excited to provide a unique opportunity for a very enthusiastic and skillful individual to join our team as a post -PhD researcher in robots that can be worn. This position is located in the world -famous Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) and is part of the ambitious Vivo Hub project, a national initiative that deals with the urgent challenge of regaining movement and independence in older adults and persons with disabilities. Vivo Hub combines advanced research in smart materials, and continues to design, operation, control, and a human design to develop auxiliary techniques that work on the body, at home, and in society. It will focus on checking the health of the real world of wearable auxiliary technologies, from laboratory tests and laboratory studies to multiple experiences in the environments of instrument and publishing at home. By joining our team, it will directly contribute to translating new technologies into impressive health solutions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary researchers, clinical partners, and international stakeholders to develop and implement testing protocols, conduct user studies, evaluate performance, ability to use and accept live body techniques in real world conditions.

About you:

You are a proactive and innovative researcher and has a strong foundation in the wearing systems, and is currently in the final stages to complete a doctorate degree in robotics or control systems engineering. Your academic journey is supported by a solid background in electronic engineering or robots at the master’s level. With experience installed in developing and checking the wearable external structures, you bring a deep understanding of the interaction between man and participatory design, especially in clinical environments or the involvement of the oldest population. Your technical expertise includes the integration of sensors that can be worn for actual time control and control, as well as developing and describing the cables that depend on the principles of soft robots. Your practical skills include planning design, planning and development of dual -chlorine vinyl, welding style and initial models, using 3D printing for rapid manufacturing for wearable structures. You are experienced in the safe integration of Lipo batteries in portable automated systems, with careful attention to charging protocols and risk relief. You are adept in programming with Python, C ++ and Matlab, and you have a strong experience with ROS, along with the knowledge of R for statistical analysis. It has led and contributed to the user’s experiences and studies of use via laboratory and realistic settings, including clinical environments. Your experience covers the design of the experimental protocol, preparing ethical approvals, collecting and analyzing data using both wearable sensor data and biological mechanical tools such as Vicon.
