Assistant Lecturer in Construction Management at Atlantic Technological University

Share description

The lecturer is expected to teach primarily on the 4-year BSc (Hons) in Construction Management program and the additional 1-year BSc (Hons) in Construction Contract Management programme.

The Assistant Lecturer may also be required to teach full-time Level 7 and Level 8 courses in Quantity Surveying, Fire Safety Engineering, Building Engineering, Renewable Energy and Architectural Technology, as well as other part-time courses in the Department of Civil and Building Engineering.

The Assistant Lecturer will join an enthusiastic team involved in collaborative learning on an integrated BIM project as well as other joint modules across a range of disciplines.

The development of educational staff is encouraged and progression to similar qualifications is also supported.

Part of the lecturing responsibility will include research and supporting the growth of research in the department. The candidate is expected to bring a strong interest and ability in research in a rapidly developing field.

Please note: The Post Carrier will be based at ATU Donegal, Letterkenny Campus.

necessary Qualifications

minimum

  • Honors Grade (2.2 or above) in a relevant Level 8 degree (as defined in the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)) or equivalent.
  • Three years of relevant post-qualification experience.

desirable

  • Graduate or Master’s degree in construction management, or other related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in contracts and/or project management.
  • Expert knowledge of building technology and current building regulations combined with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and lean construction as it applies to architecture, construction, civil and environmental engineering.
  • Knowledge of construction law, contracts, regulatory environment and professional ethics as they relate to contract administration and construction project management.
  • Knowledge and experience in using project review software for architecture, engineering, and construction to comprehensively review integrated models and data.
  • – Knowledge of modern construction methods and emerging construction technology.
  • Knowledge and experience using a range of software for quantitative measurement, environmental analysis and computerized facilities management systems.
  • Professional membership in a relevant professional body.
  • Relevant teaching and research experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in teams.
