The Center for Language Education (CLE) at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) is inviting applications for the position of English Teacher. The successful candidate will teach a diverse range of SUSTech students (undergraduate and postgraduate). SUSTech is a young public university located in Shenzhen, China, near Hong Kong. The main teaching languages ​​at the university are Chinese and English.

CLE is committed to enhancing SUSTech students’ ability in English and other foreign languages ​​through various language programs and contributing to the internationalization of SUSTech. The Center for Continuing Education is dedicated to providing high-quality education and the best possible opportunities for foreign language acquisition by providing a sustainable, multi-dimensional language learning environment. CLE is expanding rapidly and needs teachers with vision and experience in teaching English.

Responsibilities:

• Teaching listening, speaking, reading and academic writing at different levels
• Training faculty members and teaching assistants on using English as a medium of instruction
• Provide training to administrative staff to enhance their use of English in the workplace
• Contribute to the development of curricula, assessments and educational materials to ensure high standards of English language teaching
• Actively participate in department meetings or program support activities as needed

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:

• Master’s or PhD degree in TESOL, TEFL, linguistics, applied linguistics, or a related field
• Ideally, at least 3 years of experience teaching English at the college/university level
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: curriculum development, EAP, ESP for STEM, assessment, teacher training, academic writing and communication, English medium teaching, educational technology
• Experience teaching abroad is highly desirable
• For applicants with a doctoral degree, evidence of research publications in the field of English language education

Conditions of employment
