We are currently hiring for a position:
Senior motion designer
The Senior Motion Designer is a creative, collaborative individual who consistently delivers high-quality motion design, raising the bar of creativity at TIFF at every opportunity. You will work within the branding and marketing team of graphic and web designers, video and social media content producers, writers and copy editors, creating engaging brand designs and identities for TIFF, ensuring our audiences are exciting and engaged.
Responsibilities:
• Visualize, create and deliver high-quality motion design across multiple platforms. (Digital, Web, Film and Social) for:
• Brand and marketing campaigns
• Festivals
• Marquee events
• Initiatives and projects throughout the year
• Industry events and more
• Work collaboratively with all team members.
• Contribute to creative strategy, brainstorming sessions and creative thinking.
• Create presentation decks, style frames, storyboards, and animations, presenting concepts and ideas to key stakeholders.
• Apply marketing principles and tactics to designs.
• Pre-plan, implement and deliver creative motion designs, while working on multiple projects, staying on time and budget from concept to completion.
• Apply an understanding of timing, movement, mood and emotion to action.
• Maintain and understand brand consistency and guidelines, and how to apply them across all media.
• Focus on business requirements when needed
• Consistently meet business expectations in a fast-paced environment.
• Monitor and integrate industry-leading designs and embrace innovation.
• Design for any environment, size and size and prepare files flawlessly.
• Provide leadership and enthusiasm for learning and development.
• Mentoring other team members to develop their creative skills.
Job grade and salary:
• Function grade 3
• Job grade salary range: 60,000 – 78,000
Target contract dates:
• November 3, 2025
Work location:
• Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
• Weekly requirements within the office:
• At least two days (from November to April)
• Minimum 3 days (from May to October)
• Festival Office Requirements: Full time during the festival
Minimum requirements:
• 5 years of professional experience working in a design, advertising, or creative agency environment with a strong understanding and foundation of motion design, video, graphic design, and art fundamentals.
• Education in design, motion, art or related field
• A versatile portfolio and reels showcasing creative concepts, motion design and various techniques combined with video across multiple platforms.
• Excellent understanding of design and typography principles
• Demonstrates his passion for film, design, typography, motion design, video, and photography.
• Experience with non-profit brands and arts and cultural organizations a plus
• Proficient in interpreting creative briefs, with excellent planning, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Strong proficiency in Adobe CC (After Effects, Cinema 4D, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign).
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suites, Trello and GoProof
• Advanced motion design skills
• Strong time management skills.
• Exceptional, detail-oriented production experience
• Strong understanding of broadcast, digital, social, e-commerce and each platform’s workflow and how they relate to engaging and compelling campaigns.
• Excellent collaborator, open to feedback and has effective communication skills.
• This position requires remaining in the position on a regular basis.
