Position summary

Biomedical Research Imaging Center (Break) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is calling for applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in artificial intelligence (AI) for medical data analysis.

The successful candidate will conduct research focused on developing and validating artificial intelligence and machine learning-based methodologies to analyze and interpret complex biomedical data. Specific research areas include:

  • Diagnosis and characterization of brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and autism using multimodal neuroimaging, biomedical and genetic data.
  • Automated segmentation, detection and prediction of therapeutic response of uterine fibroids using multimodal imaging and clinical information.

The postdoctoral researcher will join an interdisciplinary research team consisting of computer scientists, neuroscientists, medical physicists, biostatisticians, and radiologists. This work will build on the research program established by the group into medical image analysis using artificial intelligence.

Minimum education and experience requirements

Ph.D. in computer science, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, medical physics, or a related field.

Required qualifications, competencies and experience

Proven experience in medical image analysis, machine learning, or artificial intelligence. Strong programming skills in Python, MATLABOr related languages. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.

Preferred qualifications, competencies and experience

Experience in publishing research.
