Father, DevOps Engineer (Actuary), Milwaukee, Wisconsin
What is the role?
We are looking for a hard-working Senior DevOps Engineer who will focus on building a strong partnership between the Engineering and Risk Management teams. In this role on the Actuarial Software Engineering team, you will be primarily responsible for moving applications through risk assessments, partnering with application teams to collect evidence of controls and applying established control patterns. To excel in this role, you will combine knowledge of developer patterns across application and data platforms (Mainframe, Windows, Linux, Docker, AWS) with risk engineering practices (access management, data controls, secure deployment, logging and monitoring) to ensure teams effectively identify, mitigate and document risks in their software solutions.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Own and drive risk assessments for applications moving through the SDLC
- Work with application teams to collect control evidence and apply risk/control patterns
- Help development teams implement build patterns, quality check, test and deploy automation patterns in Gitlab CI pipelines.
- Design and build automation patterns for CI/CD, infrastructure deployment, maintenance, monitoring, security and compliance in alignment with enterprise standards.
- Solve complex technical problems and empower/teach peers self-sufficiency
- Provide thought leadership throughout the local business division
- Partner with other enterprise teams on best practices, patterns, and emerging technology.
- Proactively learn emerging patterns, cloud services and related technology
Bring your best! What this role needs:
- Proven experience in risk assessments and applying security control patterns within business environments (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 4-5 years experience
- 4 years of professional IT experience 4 years of experience with at least one operating system/hosting platform (e.g. Linux, Windows, AWS, Kube)
- 2 years of experience in n-tier application integration (e.g. DNS, HTTP, SSL, encryption, authentication)
- 2 years of experience in CI/CD concepts and tools (GitLab CI, Secure Service Automation, Confidentiality Management, Testing Concepts, Blue/Green)
- 2 years of experience in infrastructure automation tools or programming/scripting (Terraform, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell)
- Creative problem-solving skills to adapt standard CI/CD patterns and security practices to transition legacy applications.
- Strong communication skills

Payment range – starting:
$92,750.00
Payment Range – End:
$172,250.00
Geographic specific pay structure:
205 – Chassis 110: $102,060.00 – $189,540.00 205 – Chassis 115: $106,680.00 – $198,120.00
