Annapolis County is currently looking for a Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (DCAO) to join our team! The Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (DCAO) is a key position in the day-to-day operations of the municipality and is the chief advisor to the CAO. The DCAO is responsible for carrying out the statutory duties of a municipal clerk, supervising municipal elections, and serving as custodian of official municipal records. This position manages day-to-day municipal operations in the absence of the CAO, and provides leadership in policy development, program implementation, interdepartmental coordination, and project management. The role also supervises corporate services staff, manages departmental budgets, manages organization-wide IT systems, and supports the occupational health and safety program. The DCAO may also be required to represent the municipality in community and external engagements, respond to public inquiries, and prepare reports for the CAO and Council.
Qualifications:
Candidates for this position must possess, at a minimum, an associate degree in business administration, public administration, law, or a similar educational program from an accredited post-secondary institution, or a combination of formal education and life experiences.
Ideally, candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a municipal or regional government environment where the focus has been on corporate matters such as finance, information technology, legal services, emergency services, or organizational development, with preference given to those whose experience works directly or indirectly with a municipal government organization, or a combination of formal experience and lived experiences.
