Description of the situation

The High Energy Theory Group at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in the fall of 2026. The appointment is initially for a period of two years, with the possibility of extending to a third year, subject to availability of funds. The group’s research interests include beyond Standard Model phenomenology, dark matter, cosmology, and gravitational waves. The UF particle theory group includes professors Jeff Dror, Yuhei Imma, Rachel Hotz, Pierre Ramond, Pierre Sikevi, Richard Woodard, and Wei Xue. As a group, we host weekly external seminar series and occasional particle theory workshops.

The successful candidate will join the Fundamental Theory Institute at UF, facilitating discussions with other groups working on theoretical research in the department. The Department of Physics at the University of Florida includes a number of faculty working in related fields, including dark matter detection (ADMX, ALPS, SuperCDMS), experimental particle physics (CMS, Belle II, DUNE), gravitational wave detection (LIGO, LISA, NANOGrav), theoretical astrophysics, and matter physics Intensive. It also provides access to the world-class HiPerGator research computing centre.

UF is the oldest, largest, and most comprehensive land-grant university in the state with an enrollment of more than 50,000 students. UF is ranked sixth in the nation among public universities (US News and World Report 2023 rankings), and No. 1 among public institutions in the 2023 Wall Street Journal survey. UF is located in Gainesville, a city of about 150,000 in north-central Florida, 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, 67 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, and 2 hours drive from large metropolitan areas (Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville).
