We are currently seeking a Systems Engineering and Production Manager To join our growth engineering a team. This role is available to candidates across Canada. If you are local to one of our centers (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto), you will be expected to be in the office at least two days a week during our installation days.
What your team does:
At Clio we strive to be humane and high-performance. For our Systems Engineering Manager, this means someone who can collaborate across the engineering organization to enable product development with the right systems and services to unlock their agility, foster discussions around core competency or performance issues in our applications, and ultimately get their hands on the keyboard to “lead from the front” and help diagnose and resolve issues in production.
What a day in the life might look like:
- Define the vision and support your team in designing and implementing the architecture to enhance new global capabilities for Clio customers.
- Authored, reviewed and shipped infrastructure as code in Clio cloud environments.
- Empower product teams to solve self-service issues and reduce the time needed to resolve production issues by smoothing out friction points through automation and creating observability tools.
- Directly supervise, mentor, and collaborate with individual contributors, building cross-functional relationships across the engineering organization.
- Partnering with Clio’s product development teams to support them in ensuring all Clio products meet a high level of security, performance, reliability, availability and agility to change.
- Work closely with the Recruitment/People team to actively recruit and hire top talent to support Clio’s ambitious growth plans for our Infrastructure and Development teams.
What you may have:
- Proven success in leading people in systems engineering, particularly in large-scale SaaS products.
- Proficiency in at least one software development language.
- A diverse knowledge base that allows you to help your team solve complex technical problems.
- The ability to describe successful projects you have worked on, in addition to a set of lessons learned from failed projects.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit the best and brightest engineers in a fast-paced job market – and to train, develop and retain engineering talent. You are equally energized by your technical work as well as contributing to your team’s career growth.
- You have strong opinions that are weak, and you reinforce the same position in others.
- You believe in the importance of providing honest, actionable feedback to your team, and you encourage your team to respond in kind.
- You create roadmaps to guide your team, but you’re not beholden to them. You can easily adapt to a constantly changing world.
- A growth mindset when it comes to improving processes and new technologies, especially artificial intelligence.
Bonus points if you have:
- Exposure to working with MySQL, mongoDB, Elasticsearch, and/or Kafka databases
- Proficiency in AWS

The full salary range* for this role is $172,000 to $215,000 to $258,000 CAD. Please note that salary ranges may vary based on location and local currency. Additionally, benefit offerings may vary depending on the employee’s location.
*We aim to hire all candidates between the low end and midpoint of the full salary range. We reserve the midpoint to the high end of the salary range for internal employees who demonstrate high performance and continued impact at Clio. The final offer amount for this role will depend on the individual experience and skill set of the candidate. Please note that there is a separate set of salary ranges for other regions based on the local currency.
