Senior Project Officer – River Waveney Trust

We are looking for a Senior Project Officer to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity to join our trust and play a pivotal role in developing and growing the organisation. The Trust currently consists of eight members of staff and manages many diverse environmental and community projects, with further development work in progress. The team is welcoming, open and inclusive and places a high value on supporting each other to work to the best of our ability.

The role will suit an experienced, self-motivated individual with project management skills within a charitable environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in environmental philanthropy, with a focus on rivers and watersheds, but other backgrounds and skill sets will be taken into consideration if the candidate is tailored to this role. Critical to this role is a solutions-oriented mindset, excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and dedication to helping our charity succeed in its mission. The role will involve project management of a project workload for up to seven members of staff. This is a job share with an approved staff member, offered a minimum of 4 days per week.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide an essential supporting role to the project team, sitting on the senior leadership team, and working across the entire Trust to support effective implementation.
  • Directly manage a range of environmental projects to ensure milestones are met, budgets are adhered to and successful delivery is achieved.
  • Support or lead the direct management of the team, depending on skills and experience.
  • Identifying financing opportunities and writing financing bids for a variety of financiers to ensure project continuity and development.
  • Maintain and oversee all internal and external reporting systems and claims to funders, including project evaluation and impact evaluation.
  • Work with the Director to prepare and manage project budgets, providing input to annual budgets and work plans.
  • Work with the team to develop existing and new projects through effective teamwork, understanding of data and evidence, and creative thinking.
  • Oversee organizational communications and advocacy, including social media and website updates, quarterly newsletters and event marketing.
  • Lead regulatory reviews as needed, for example contracts, health and safety and policies.
  • Leading trust administration, including: office administration; buying; an exercise; Recruitment and event support.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Fund.
