We are looking for an experienced lawyer to join our legal team in Vancouver as Senior Legal Counsel. The ideal candidate will have 6-8 years of legal experience with a mix of corporate and business experience. This role focuses on supporting our portfolio of companies, assisting with M&A transactions, contributing to insurance matters, and handling commercial contract drafting.

Key Responsibilities:

Corporate support, mergers and acquisitions:

  • Assist in maintaining the corporate portfolio of group companies
  • Supporting M&A transactions and due diligence processes
  • Assistance with company documents and files

Insurance support:

  • Assistance in insurance matters for group companies
  • Assist in reviewing insurance policies and documents
  • Supporting insurance related issues and claims
  • Contribute to risk management strategies

Commercial contracts:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements
  • Supporting work teams with practical legal solutions
  • Review technology agreements including SaaS and licensing arrangements
  • Dealing with non-disclosure agreements and partnership agreements

Legal processes:

  • Contributing to improvements in the legal process
  • Support the use of legal technology solutions including artificial intelligence tools

Qualifications:

  • Admitted to practice law and an active member in good standing of the Law Society of a Canadian province or territory
  • 6-8 years of experience with proven skills in corporate affairs and commercial contracts
  • Some familiarity with insurance matters is beneficial, with the opportunity to develop expertise in this area
  • Experience supporting M&A transactions and managing corporate documents
  • Working knowledge of trade agreements
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be located in Vancouver, British Columbia

The full salary range* for this role is $153,000 to $191,200 to $229,400 CAD. Please note that salary ranges may vary based on location and local currency. Additionally, benefit offerings may vary depending on the employee’s location.

*We aim to hire all candidates between the low end and midpoint of the full salary range. We reserve the midpoint to the high end of the salary range for internal employees who demonstrate high performance and continued impact at Clio. The final offer amount for this role will depend on the individual experience and skill set of the candidate. Please note that there is a separate set of salary ranges for other regions based on the local currency.
