Senior Graphic Designer at Purdue for Life – West Lafayette, IN

This position is hybrid and will require up to 3 days per week of office work in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Responsibilities
Work collaboratively and collaboratively with Purdue for Life colleagues to complete projects on-brand, on time, error-free, and with high quality, in collaboration with Marcum teammates, direct supervisor, and Executive Creative Director.
Collaborate with Marcum colleagues from all departments to develop cohesive marketing plans, prioritize high-profile, cross-functional projects (including but not limited to: Purdue for Life Foundation, President’s Council, John Purdue Club, and Purdue Alumni Association) and mentor other designers as needed to deliver successful projects.
Apply creative strategy and expert design to marketing materials from concept to completion, including but not limited to: collateral printing (with variable data); Digital art with variable data (social media, presentation software, email/web banners, interactive online publications); Environmental graphics. promotional materials; Direct mail pieces; And special event items.
Manage production liaison with vendors from collecting print estimates, proofing and method of delivery, developing relationships with external vendors to ensure quality deliverables are completed on time within budget.
Providing technical guidance to photographers. On-site assistance with photo shoots and video production.
Edit photographs according to the University and Purdue for Life Foundation branding guidelines.
Develop and maintain production schedules and provide timely communications with colleagues.
Collaborate and contribute to the design process by participating in creative discussion among the team, providing input on implementation, making clear and compelling presentations as needed, and seeking inspiration and professional growth through research into design trends and creative progress of software.
Additional responsibilities:
Assist other Purdue for Life designers as needed.
Work in collaboration with Purdue Brand Studio, branding, licensing, and freelancers as needed.
Collaborate with Marcum colleagues to ensure that all work produced follows the Purdue for Life Foundation and Purdue University brand guidelines as well as ADA guidelines.
Attend and participate in programs and events sponsored by Purdue for Life as needed.
Where possible, integrate AI tools to streamline workflow and enhance marketing efforts.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Required skills, knowledge and abilities
Demonstrate excellent ability in design, typography and visual communication (Wallet review required – submit access with application).
Ability to communicate ideas visually and verbally with great attention to detail.
Ability to follow the visual branding guidelines of Purdue for Life and Purdue University.
Comprehensive understanding of design and printing processes.
Professional proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite with a focus on InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator and working knowledge of Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Dimension.
Strong computer skills; Working knowledge of MacOS, MS Office and other similar software.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to proofread and understand standard proofreading marks.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and quickly adapt to changing priorities while working in a fast-paced team and client-driven environment.
Ability to analyze and organize sets of information in a comprehensive visual manner.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at various levels of professionalism and experience.
Ability to receive feedback, respond constructively and implement it.
Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Produce high-quality, error-free work.
Be a teammate with a “no task is too small” attitude.
Working knowledge of ADA compliance and copyright laws applicable to creative works.
Regular and reliable personal attendance is a requirement of this position.
Ability to work a hybrid schedule, working up to 3 days per week in the office in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Summary of education, experience, and benefits required
Bachelor’s degree in visual communications design, graphic design, or related field is required.
– At least 5 years of experience in the visual design profession
Experience in higher education or marketing/interior design department/agency is a plus
