Your turn:

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will build AI and ML solutions for Global Relay’s clients. Our solutions are developed by small, focused, agile teams of data scientists and developers. You will apply a variety of models to very large electronic communications archives in order to classify and understand communications content. You will have the opportunity to work in machine translation, transcription, natural language processing, LLMs (large language models), and/or generative artificial intelligence. You can also address exciting and interesting issues related to scalability and high availability in big data environments.

This is an opportunity to work alongside some of Vancouver’s best data scientists and apply your craft in an environment that encourages creative thinking and collaboration.

Your job:

• Work closely with data scientists and other developers in building and deploying various machine learning models
• Perform all steps in the data science process from understanding business requirements to deploying models
• Produce reports detailing model performance
• Take the initiative to identify and resolve important problems, and coordinate with others on cross-cutting technical issues
• Participate in design review, code review, sprint planning, and other Agile artifacts
• Collaborate with product management in creating and refining the user story
• Contribute to knowledge sharing activities with colleagues
• Guide a junior and intermediate data scientist through pairings and reviews
• Instill a spirit of continuous improvement into the team’s code, architecture, and processes

About you:

• 5+ years of experience solving machine learning problems
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM subject, Linguistics or equivalent work experience
• Experience working with very large data sets in an enterprise level application environment
• Experience with Python and Bash
• Experience with popular machine learning libraries such as: PyTorch, Sklearn, TensorFlow, TensorRT, etc
• Experience mentoring junior and intermediate data scientists
• Strong organizational and communication skills

Nice to have:

• Master’s degree in a STEM or linguistics subject (an additional year of experience is considered)
• PhD in a STEM or Linguistics subject (additional two years of experience are considered)
• Experience data collection and cleaning
• Data engineering skills
• Experience with:
  • Acoustic or linguistic models for speech recognition
  • Natural language processing models
  • Large linguistic models
  • Kubernetes and microservices
  • Work in an agile development environment

compensation:

Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in accordance with BC pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as experience, skills, education and professional background.

The range below reflects expected annual base salary, which is just one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect the pay philosophy, culture and values ​​of our company. British Columbia – Base Salary Range:

$120,000 – $130,000 CAD
