Mastercard is seeking an experienced attorney to be responsible for providing comprehensive, comprehensive strategic support to NAM’s digital partnerships, Fintech & Enablers team, and US Markets team.

The Senior Counsel will be a key member of the highly skilled US legal team, supporting Mastercard’s largest region.

Responsibilities
• Serves as a day-to-day advisor to our sales clients by partnering with business and legal professionals to execute strategy, including expanding Mastercard acceptance and securing Mastercard share with digital partners, fintechs, program managers, merchants, acquirers and neobank issuers.
• Collaborates with internal subject matter experts to better understand and be able to comprehensively advise on our products and related regulatory, compliance, privacy and antitrust issues.
• Works cross-functionally across business lines, issuers, digital and services to provide comprehensive support to the region.
• Independently builds, drafts, reviews and negotiates complex customer agreements, including identifying legal and business risks and recommending solutions.
• Participate in strategic relationships, co-branding and acceptance agreements with our digital partners, merchants and acquirers.
• Foster and build strong relationships with business stakeholders, global product advisors, and other legal and franchise colleagues to enhance cross-functional collaboration.
• Train and educate clients on processes, risks, and changes in US laws, regulations, and regulatory landscape on an ongoing basis.
• Lead North American Market Compliance Partners to ensure products and services comply with company policies, such as gifts, hospitality, anti-bribery, anti-corruption and third party inclusion.
• Identifies necessary process improvements and efficiencies. Owns and implements solutions to support our transformation strategy and moves towards streamlining processes to increase ease of doing business

• Transactional legal experience in a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills with the ability to understand and simplify complex concepts, issues and deal structures.

• Keen business vision and strong communication skills to interact confidently and effectively with internal customers, MasterCard customers and colleagues, including senior management and MasterCard executives.

In keeping with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming the position will be performed in the United States, the successful candidate will receive a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. Base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Purchase, New York: $187,000-$300,000

O’Fallon, Missouri: $163,000 – $261,000
