Functional purpose

IT Network Security Specialist – L2 is responsible for assisting with architecture, long-term strategies, planning, integration, and deployment related to the IT network. They will work closely with all members of the IT Operations team to continuously design, develop, and build and ensure integration, manageability, and security of highly available systems and applications. Working closely with other units, they will ensure the integration of Global Relay’s IT network design with other technologies such as storage, virtualization, containers, and any and all systems and services.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Participate in developing and engineering long-term IT network strategies
  • Use Systems Thinking to understand the interconnections within the IT network and infrastructure, and across the Global Relay concerns
  • Work closely with operations and development teams to identify, troubleshoot, diagnose and correct system-related issues as they arise
  • Participate in formulating and implementing innovative techniques to achieve and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction in conjunction with organizational effectiveness
  • Collaborate with operations and development teams to identify opportunities to improve service, efficiency, security and flexibility
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives as well as selection, installation, commissioning and ongoing support of infrastructure improvements
  • Participate and support change management activities
  • Provide support to business users and key stakeholders as needed
  • Participate in creating documentation including: Operation Manuals, User Manuals, Technical Support Manuals and Method of Procedures (MoP)
  • Support and develop monitoring and review of system dashboards and critical alerts to ensure system issues are identified, escalated and addressed as quickly as possible
  • Identify, evaluate and make recommendations on automation implementation opportunities
  • Provide support for all systems management, escalated incidents or problem related items
  • Utilize acquired knowledge to balance user requirements, available resources, and organizational goals and objectives while striving to maintain high quality customer service

Qualifications

  • – At least 5 years of experience in a network specialist position
  • Experience planning, designing, and implementing complex enterprise network architecture
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues, preparing management reports, and documentation (how-to’s, processes and procedures, MoP)
  • Proven ability to self-manage and balance assigned business meeting deliverables as scheduled
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Linux deployment and administration
  • Experience with Aruba, HPE, Arista, or Cisco network configuration is an asset
  • Experience with VOIP and UC technologies such as Cisco UC
  • Experience with Aruba Wireless and ClearPass systems
  • Experience in automation and scripting
  • Experience in provisioning, maintaining and supporting enterprise networks, firewalls and related dependencies
  • Experience with OpenSource software and/or service management tools and applications (OpenStack, OpenShift, Zabbix, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Experience implementing and leveraging automation in the delivery of system administration responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, FTP, ARP, ICMP, MPLS, BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently in an efficient and organized manner in a complex and challenging environment
  • Adaptability to work with multiple teams on projects with varying degrees of flexibility/rigidity at different points in the development cycle
  • Strong experience working in an environment with formally structured IT operational processes, such as work order ticket management, incident management, change management, issue management, etc.
  • Ability to take internal operational initiatives as owner and coordinator of large-scale projects or items
  • ITSM Framework certifications such as ITIL, Sigma, or SIAM or methodology certifications such as Agile, Scrum, or DevOps are a definite asset.

compensation:

Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in accordance with BC pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as experience, skills, education and professional background.

The range below reflects expected annual base salary, which is just one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect the pay philosophy, culture and values ​​of our company. British Columbia – Base Salary Range

$85,000 – $100,000 CAD
